4. The Latest Baseball Tech

Technology is changing the baseball landscape. Measuring and analyzing data has helped move the game forward in terms of how it is learned and taught.

Bat Sensors have been out for a few years, but the tech is becoming better every year. Our favorite selection is Blast Baseball by Blast Motion. It’s powered by an app available on both Apple and Android devices. The sensor mounts to the handle of the players bat. The sensor will track data like bat speed, hand speed, and launch angle, as well as show the player a 3D model of their swing. The player can then compare their swing to that of several professional players. As of today, 12/7/18, Amazon is running a promotion for Blast Baseball and you can save 23%!!! CLICK HERE to get Blast Baseball for this special limited time price (currently $114.99 + Free Shipping).

  1. Tyler Redlev says:

Hey there!! I also have a website based on gifts for a certain crowd. These are exactly the type of gifts that a baseball fan would appreciate!

The Swing Tracker looks cool, and tech is appreciated everywhere now. Would definetely buy one to improe my swings. Do you have any type of baseball bat that you can advise??

    1. Ryan Basham says:

Thanks, Tyler, glad you like the website. If you’re interested in bats that carry this type of technology there is a bat made by Marucci called the Smart Bat. It has a handle that is specifically designed for the SwingTracker sensors. It should provide more accurate readings than sensors that are attached on the outside of the handle. The Smart Bat is $167, but includes that SwingTracker sensor with purchase.

  2. Kent says:

Hey Ryan! This is a great post, thanks for sharing! As you know the Christmas season is upon us and I’m struggling with gift ideas for certain family members. In this case, my nephew is a die-hard baseball fan who is actually playing baseball for his university in Texas. I’ll definitely have to look into number 4 on your list (ie SwingTracker). I didn’t realize technology that advanced was available for improving batting technique. Do you know if it works for any type of bat?

    1. Ryan Basham says:

That’s great Kent! What school is he playing at? Yes, SwingTracker comes with a mounting strap and will mount to any bat.
