What is the World Baseball Classic? Here’s a quick rundown:   In 2005 the International Olympic Committee decided to remove baseball from the Olympic Games. In response to the removal, later that year Major League Baseball, the Major League Baseball Players Association, and other professional leagues from around the globe pitched the World Baseball Classic (WBC) tournament format to the International Baseball Federation (now known as the World Baseball Softball Federation).
